Blog 7: Guess the Book

Updated: Mar 15, 2019

Finished the book Muse of Nightmares!!!

Chose a new book!

Welcome, back! How are you all today? Even though my blogs might be boring sometimes, please bare with me. Today I have some good news. I finally will be starting with one of my goals for this 20% blog. One of my goals was to read books that were not fantasy and books that I am not familiar with. The book I will be reading next week is a very popular book and the genre is non-fiction. The book I will be reading is called...

As you guys might know, Michelle Obama is Barack Obama's wife. I got interested in this book after Mrs. Saint-Aubin, the science teacher, recommended this book to me. I saw this book in Instagram, but I didn't recognize her as Barack Obama's wife. So when I looked up the book online I was quite surprised.

I have been able to finish reading Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor. I had a book time with reading the book. I finished 3/4 of the book on Thursday when we had school off. I really was so focused on reading that time flew by too quickly that i didn't notice that it was already dusk. I think that I will meet the midpoint goal soon because I have been reading a book per week. But the only problem that I am having right now is that I have to write the book reviews. To write book reviews, I have to think deeply about the good and bad sides of the book. It's really easy to think of the good side when you enjoy the book, but if the book is boring then it's really easy to come up with negative points.

So far I have learned from this project is that writing reviews look so easy, but when you do it every week, it's genuinely stressful. You have to think about not spoiling the book and make it interesting, so the readers will get motivated to pick up the book or else what is the main point in doing book reviews?

Now I end this blog update with info about the book. As usual I will use Goodreads as it's source.

Title: Becoming

Author: Michelle Obama

Publisher: Crown

Date Published: November 13th 2018

Length: Hardcover, 426 pages

ISBN: 9781524763138

In a life filled with meaning and accomplishment, Michelle Obama has emerged as one of the most iconic and compelling women of our era. As First Lady of the United States of America—the first African-American to serve in that role—she helped create the most welcoming and inclusive White House in history, while also establishing herself as a powerful advocate for women and girls in the U.S. and around the world, dramatically changing the ways that families pursue healthier and more active lives, and standing with her husband as he led America through some of its most harrowing moments.

Along the way, she showed us a few dance moves, crushed Carpool Karaoke, and raised two down-to-earth daughters under an unforgiving media glare. In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it—in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.
