“You're some kind of thief, then?"
"That a very narrow-minded way of looking at it. I prefer to think of myself as a merchant of delicate tasks.”
― S.A. Chakraborty, The City of Brass
Review: I loved reading every pages of this book. I love Nahri and Dara. Nahri is the girl that gets transported into a world of Djinn. My favorite part of this book was the setting of this story. It is based on Middle Eastern area in the ancient days. I love how the author gives us tiny details that change the book for what it is. As we read this book, we find more about the Djinn and other creatures. It's a great experience where we learn at the same pace as our main character when she is learning about this world. I think it's better that way than the author stuffing us with info in description. Reading this book reminded me of the book The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh. That book is also Middle Eastern inspired, so I could feel like there is some similarities while reading. This is actually the first book that the author wrote. I am very impressed that she wrote a great book as her debut novel. I can't wait to get to the next book.

Now to move onto the bad part of the book is that it is too long. Some parts of this book could have condensed a bit. It doesn't have to be like skip a scene but shorten the scene a bit. I think that is the best way to shorten the book. One problem that I have now still is that we are introduced to a character for a period of time and then he ends up dying. I wanted the author to tell us more about his life. It would be interesting that way.

The ending of the book is very shocking. It is like a cliffhanger. You won't believe what happened until you process it in your brain for an hour. It took me a day to calm down about the ending. I really loved the book more because of the ending. I think that if you read the book then you will understand what I am talking about.
